Yes, you can.
In fact, they encourage you to use your own travel mug at Starbucks.
But not that many people actually do it.
And that’s because there are a few misconceptions.
We’ll clear some of those up and show you why it is always a great idea to bring your own tumbler to fill up.
Will Starbucks Fill My Travel Mug?
Yes.
If you bring your own mug to Starbucks, they will gladly fill it up for you.
More than that, they will actually give you a discount on your order if you use your own mug as opposed to one of their single-use cups.
Since it is Starbucks, the discount is only 10 cents. You didn’t think they were going to give you a large amount of money, did you?
But that’s not why you bring your own cup.
You do it, in order to cut down on waste. And also because you drink will stay hot longer in a real coffee mug, as opposed to the paper cups you would otherwise get.
And I suppose even a ten cent discount adds up over time.
Will Starbucks Fill Any Mug Or Just Theirs?
This is one of the big misconceptions. Starbucks will fill up, and give the 10 cent discount for, any travel mug you bring in.
It does not need to be a tumbler that they sell themselves, like one of these ceramic Starbucks travel mugs.
You can bring in any type of mug you like, so go ahead and bring your own personalized cup or anything else you have lying around.
The only thing you can’t use is any of Starbucks’ “for-here” ware. That is another misconception.
If you’ve already got your own mug, why not save a bit of money and cut down on waste? And it’s not just the world’s largest coffee chain. You can use you own tumblers at places like Dunkin Donuts, Tim Hortons and McDonald’s as well, though not all places will give you a discount.
Go ahead and start bringing you personal tumbler to Starbucks. The coffee will stay hot longer, too. And that means it tastes better. No one likes cold coffee, after all.
